Ready for action with Captain
and Major Warrington's two Merryweather steam fire engines. Purchased in
1880 for £463, for some reason they had to borrow the horses from
local owners, if in the event of a fire they would pay the horse owner
five shillings (twenty five pence) per hour.
Things have certainly improved for
the better................
